The Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association (FOPLA) is a group made up of over 300 volunteers who work to support the Ottawa Public Library (OPL). Volunteers manage 15 bookstores, located in library branches throughout Ottawa. The FOPLA bookstores sell donated books, music, and movies to raise money for the library. The library welcomes donations of material from individuals or groups. It is understood that donations are permanent and freely given without conditions attached, and that all donations will be used or disposed of as the Library deems appropriate. They will either be added to the collection or given to the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library to sell. No tax receipts for donated material will be issued. The OPL also welcomes volunteers, including adults and teens looking to complete their community involvement hours. Our volunteers commit two to four hours a week and help put materials in order, clean material, garden and help out wherever they’re needed. | |
