Hi, everyone! Here are some fun low-tech activities for your family to try together at home. Perhaps you can include this list of activities in your morning routine, or in your afternoon routine following nap time. Please note that we are compiling family literacy ideas for each letter of the alphabet -meaning that you'll have 26 days worth of songs, yoga postures, tongue twisters and more to have fun with! Enjoy :)
Do Your Ears Hang Low?
Sing along with this version
Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them over your shoulder?
Like a continental soldier?

Elephant Yoga
Stand up tall or sit up tall in your chair
Imagine a string is pulling the top of your head to make you stand straight up or sit up as tall as you can.
Bend over and let your body be relaxed with your head and arms hanging down.
This pose is called “rag doll”
Sway and move from side to side.
Imagine you are an elephant.
Make a noise like an elephant
Use your arms like an elephant trunk.
What other animals can you be?
Eye Spy with my Little Eye
(requires at least 2 people)
Choose an item in the room that you can see. For example...a lemon.
Say ..”eye spy with my little eye, something that is the colour Yellow.
The person guessing can guess until they get it right. Or, if they can’t find the item, you get another turn.
Memory game - Elephants never forget
Choose a few items and place on the floor or table. Cover with a cloth. Show the items to someone for 60 seconds. You can you a timer or simple count. Cover up the items and see how many items they can remember.
Earth is a Planet
Our solar system consists of...can you name them? Which one starts with letter E?
Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune...and, you’re right : Earth!
