The site of the new Central Library at Ādisōke is located on the unceded, traditional territory of the Anishinābe Algonquin Nation. In Anishinābemowin Algonquin language, Ādisōke refers to the telling of stories. The Ādisōke team invites you to learn a few words in that language.
Over the next few weeks, we will post vocabulary related to the construction of the facility and pronunciation videos to help you practice.
Today’s word is mònànikewin (groundbreaking). Construction for Ādisōke began in early 2022 – the ground might have been frozen, but that didn’t stop the team!
