Canada Reads Listening Party

Come to the Main Branch at 11 a.m. from Monday, March 27-Thursday, March 30 to listen in on the Canada Reads 2017 broadcast, while the literary defenders debate this year’s Canada Reads question: What is the one book Canadians need now?

Pack up your travel mug and your copy of your favourite Canada Reads selection, and indulge in the favourite Ottawa pastime of listening to CBC Radio One and passionately agreeing – or disagreeing – with everything you hear!

Canada Reads 2017 is hosted by Ali Hassan, and this year’s contenders are:

  • Chantal Kreviazuk defending The Right to Be Cold by Sheila Watt-Cloutier
  • Humble The Poet defending Fifteen Dogs by André Alexis
  • Measha Brueggergosman defending Company Town by Madeline Ashby
  • Candy Palmater defending The Break by Katherena Vermette
  • Jody Mitic defending Nostalgia by M.G. Vassanji

Come one day, come every day – come on your own, or bring as many friends as you can sneak out of the office!
