September 25 doesn't go unnoticed at Ottawa Public Library. The Library marks Franco-Ontarian Day in recognition of the important contribution of Ontario's Francophone community, both literary and culturally.
To honour the occasion, OPL staff will join the City of Ottawa in raising the Franco-Ontarian flag in the presence of Mayor Mark Sutcliffe on Wednesday, September 25, from 8:30 am to 9 am, in front of the historic City Hall building on Elgin Street.
The Library's collection is brimming with Franco-Ontarian books, and OPL has forged close ties with Ottawa's Franco-Ontarian authors, both through the Association des auteures et auteurs de l'Ontario Français and the many Francophone community organizations in Ottawa.
Year after year, the Library ensures to include Ottawa and Ontario Francophone authors in its collection to support the Francophone literary community and offer its customers stories that reflect the cultural richness of our city and province.
Many OPL branches will feature Franco-Ontarian books to benefit book lovers and Francophiles. So, if you pass by a branch this week, satisfy your curiosity by exploring the range of books on display and choosing a book for the week! You can also place a hold online from the list below!
