Donate your books!

Hey Ottawa, we are two months into the New Year and we are asking: how is your 2018 goal of DECLUTTERING going?

If you need a bit of extra motivation to sort through your piles, consider this:

The Friends of the Ottawa Public Library (FOPLA) raise more than $300,000 for the Ottawa Public Library each year, with most funds coming from the sale of donated used books.

FOPLA funds finance everything from author visits, to the Awesome Authors youth writing contest, to food literacy programming, to accessible shelving and new comfortable chairs, making branches across the city more cozy and welcoming for everyone.

So if you have piles of books (in good condition), or CDs, or DVDS, consider donating them to FOPLA for the best decluttering win of all: a clearer space and giving back to your local community.

Where you can donate

Small donations, two small boxes or less, can be dropped off at any branch of the Ottawa Public Library or at any FOPLA Bookstores. Larger donations, two boxes or more, require an appointment to be dropped off.
