While studying to become a librarian, I took off for six months to be part of the mission 1000 Days for the Planet. I joined a wonderful crew of sailors, scientists and filmmakers on board the oceanographic schooner Sedna IV. We met wonderful people who dedicated their lives to the protection of species and their habitats. I became increasingly aware of the great conservation challenges that face us all. The adventure didn’t end after I returned to urban life; it continues here at the Cumberland branch with this interior garden made of recycled bottles. Every day should be Earth Day, not just April 22nd!
