UPDATE: Curbside services during the stay-at-home order– effective Apr. 8


Starting Thursday, April 8:

  • All our open branches will offer curbside returns and holds pick up.
  • Customers will no longer be permitted to enter the buildings.
  • The Bookmobile and Homebound Services will continue.
  • Hours of operation will remain the same.
  • Borrowed items can only be returned when branches are open.
  • Mask wearing outside in line remains mandatory.

Entertain yourself with the best online content - week of May 11th


As we’re all practicing physical distancing, Ottawa Public Library has been posting daily ideas of online content to help you make the most of your time at home.   

Here's a list of our top 5 live events this week. 

  1. Reading to Decolonize invites you to register for an 5-week season (beginning on Thursday May 14th at 6:30PM) of reading and discussing Leanne Betasamosake Simpson’s "Dancing on our Turtle’s Back" (2011), a collection of stories of resistance and a creation of decolonized space. 

  1. The pandemic is changing the employment landscape, and St-Lawrence College is offering a free workshop about it on Thursday May 14th at 10AM. It will explore what the pandemic means for job searching by taking a look at the labour market, as well as providing concrete steps on what you can do for your career while in isolation. The second half of the presentation will focus on Employment Fraud / Job Scams during the pandemic. 

  1. Canadian Geographic presents a talk by Ray Zahab on Thursday May 14th at 7PM. World-renowned ultramarathoner and Royal Canadian Geographical Society Explorer-in-Residence Ray Zahab will captivate with tales from his incredible endurance expeditions around the globe. 

  1. Attend the Tulip Festival virtually! The festival is 100% online this year, and it has a lot to offer! You can see parades of yore, see the flowers live, look up information and stories related to the tulips, and even watch some tulip-related cartoons!       

  1. Are you missing your regular crafting meet-up? Join a free virtual Craft and Chat activity and craft virtually with other crafters of all kinds! Every Wednesday at 3 PM.
