Regular hours resume on September 7 2021

Ottawa Public Library will return to regular pre-pandemic hours at most branches starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021 — including Sunday hours at 10 branches and InfoService as of Sunday, September 12.  

Hours are posted at branch entrances and on the Hours and location page of the OPL website.   

Fitzroy Harbour and Vernon branches are reopening after being closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

Full text remote access to the Globe and Mail is available from the comfort of your home

As you may know, the Globe and Mail removed remote access to fully scanned editions from the PressReader platform a couple of years ago, and now only allow in-library use. 

You may, however, access the Globe and Mail through alternative databases. These are:

  • Canadian Major Dailies, 
  • Gale Academic OneFile and, 
  • Gale OneFile: Business

See below for step by step instructions and tips on how to find the Globe and Mail and other fine Canadian publications on these databases.  Note that the content is full text only - it does not include pictures, charts, or graphs, but it is searchable.
