Giving Books another Story through Art

Visitors to the second floor of the Ruth E. Dickinson branch in the next month will be able to view a gorgeous display of book art created by a local artist.

Through collaging images, folding paper, and cutting into pages, the artist has given depth and new meaning to the materials used.

These intricate and inventive creations may leave one wondering how it is possible to make something so lovely out of old books.

Luckily, we here at the library won’t keep you guessing. On Saturday January 5th we will be offering a Book Art workshop hosted by the artist herself. Participants will learn about resources they can use when modifying books and then get started on their own first projects. You can register now to ensure your spot in this workshop, but if you’d like to start exploring the craft of creating art out of books right away check out the suggested titles below.
