Go WILD at the library with TD Summer Reading Club!

10/06/2016

This summer, Kids are invited to participate in the TD Summer Reading Club (TD SRC), to step out of the ordinary and be bold and adventurous through the magic of reading. Last year, more than 19,300 children registered for the TD Summer Reading Club at the OPL and read more than 194,700 books!

Children are encouraged to register for the Club at their local library all summer long and also during our Get Your Summer Read On registration drive on June 25th. Participants will receive a notebook to track their progress, a web access code for the virtual online club on the TD Summer REading Club website, stickers, and the chance to win prizes. We also offer program materials in alternative formats, such as audio or Braille, for children with print disabilities.

Kids can participate in the TD SRC anytime, anywhere ̶at their local library, at home, online, on the road or wherever their summer takes them.

New for 2016, kids will be able to read and comment on two different stories created exclusively for the TD Summer Reading Club, one written in English by author Jess Keating and one written in French by author Anne Bernard-Lenoir.

During the summer, OPL branches across the city will offer ‘wild’-themed programming featuring arts and crafts, dance, games, illusions, performing, science, sports, stories, technology, and much more!  Starting Wednesday, June 15, children can register for the TD SRC in person in any OPL branch and can register for the programs online. Click here to register.

It would be nice if the registration process was more detailed to allow patrons to register more than one child for an event. Drop down options, such as child 1, child 2 and the age of each child, etc. would be beneficial. I think you would be able to do this and still keep an accurate count of how many people would be participating in the program At this point, it is a labourous process trying to register mulitple children for the same program.

Thanks for your comment! I’ll be sure to pass this along to our Technology Services staff. If you have any further suggestions, please get in touch with InfoService at 613-580-2940. We’re always working to improve things and appreciate any feedback we get from customers.

YES! PLEASE! This is a major pain-point in the user interface.

It's in the works! We hope to have this feature available for customers soon.

That will be great.

I won the Summer Reading Club for this week!!!!

That's great!!! I hope you have tons of fun reading all summer long!

Request to register summer story timw for babyies.

You can register for summer babytime programs from our "Programs and events" page.

Help! I am trying to log books read by my toddler who is registered, books we get from the Library. But when I click on + a Book, all it does is take me to Find Books, and if I find a book there it gets added. Can you not add books not already in the list of books that pops up? It shouldn't be this hard to figure out.

You can add books to your notebook on the TD SRC website by clicking on "Books Suggested by Kids" and then "Add a book!". Once you've added your book suggestion, the title will automatically be added to your notebook.

Thanks Eh
