On Saturday, November 25, we are hitchhiking through Canadian history with two storytelling events that celebrate the Alaska Highway’s 75th anniversary.

In The Alaska Highway Road Show, performers Bill Dolan, Allison Tubman, and Kathy Jessup, will weave stories, music, photos, and artifacts to present an entertaining look back at the road's dramatic history. The same trio will also perform  Alaska Highway Detours, an interactive cafe-style evening of stories, music, photos, and artifacts about the famous wartime route.

The Alaska Highway Road Show and Alaska Highway Detours are presented by the OPL in partnership with the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library and the Canadian War Museum, as part of the OPL’s Canada 150 programming, which celebrates the art of storytelling throughout 2017.

The two shows will be presented on Saturday, November 25, at the Barney Danson Theatre, Canadian War Museum (1 Vimy Place). The Alaska Highway Road Show takes place at 2 p.m. and will be presented theatre-style. The performance  Alaska Highway Detours takes place at 7:30 p.m., and will be presented café-style. Both events are free, but registration is required. To register, please visit the Programs and Events page of the OPL website.

Could you please tell me whether the two performances are the same or different? I've registered for both shows and I'd like to know whether to go to both. Thank you.

Hi there! Yes, the shows are different. Same artists, same topic (Alaska Highway) but different shows. The show in the afternoon is presented theatre-style, and the show in the evening is presented cafe-style, with tables and chairs, and audience participation!
