Maya Angelou, in 1978, wrote her famous poem, Phenomenal WomanThe stanza of this poem is:

“I say,

It’s in the click of my heels,

The bend of my hair,

the palm of my hand,

The need for my care.

’Cause I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me”

This international women’s day, let’s reflect upon all the phenomenal women in our lives.  Let’s reflect upon the state of gender equality, contemporary feminism, and all the incredible advances that women have made.  Let’s celebrate women of the past and women of the present, recognize how far we have come, and reflect on far we have to go.

Here is a list of some writing by and from some phenomenal women. Please share any favorites you may have in the comments sectional below.

Happy International Women’s Day!
