Introducing the BiblioBike!

This summer we are cycling the library to you! Here at the Main Branch we’ve recently employed our DIY skills to build a modular mini-library display that travels on a bicycle trailer. The design and construction were completed in partnership with the Ottawa Tool Library, a local non-profit organization operating out of Makerspace North. The OPL BiblioBike | BPO BiblioVélo will be cycled to downtown community events and spaces to spread the reach of library services. Staff will share library resources, do card registrations, and check out materials to account holders. Ask us how to download e-books on your phone, or sign up for a free Lynda.com account!

Construction of the BiblioBike at the Ottawa Tool Library

We have many enthusiastic cyclists on the staff team at the Main Branch. Staff are using the network of bicycle lanes to plan our BiblioBike routes through downtown. If you are looking for the best way to join us at any event, don’t forget you can consult the Cycling Map for Ottawa-Gatineau. We started the project with visits to Minto Park for Ravenswing Arts + Music Fair, and the Bronson Centre for Ottawa Zine Fest, and are ready to keep cycling all summer.

Keep track of the BiblioBike by following OPL on twitter. If you see us, share your experience and use the tag #OPLBiblioBike.
