Let’s Celebrate Family Literacy Day!

Family Literacy Day was created in 1999 by ABC Life literacy Canada. It’s a national initiative that takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. All it takes is 20 minutes a day to encourage reading and learning in children of all ages.

To celebrate that initiative, Ottawa Public Library invite you to Little Yarn Stories a live performance by Puzzle Theatre, Saturday, February 1, at 2 pm, at Les Lye Studio Theatre, Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe. A few free activities will take place before and after the performance. Come and discover how easy it is to devote 20 minutes a day to family literacy. Reserve your free tickets online by clicking on the following link, places are limited:

If you can't make it to the show, don't worry, the Library offers many resources for a great time with your family, both online and in branch, including access to eBooks and audiobooks with TumbleBooks and Overdrive, to the online encyclopedia Britannica, fun and informative video and audio with Just For Kids, NFB Campus or, fun math activities with Tumble Math. Explore the online kid zone on our website at You can also borrow our Reading and Parents Programs packs or a Ready to Read backpack. We offer fabulous, year-round programming that promotes learning and the joy of reading. Look at our Programs and Events to find what’s happening
