It's the perfect time of the year to showcase out-of-the-ordinary declarations of love…by sharing a few of our customers’ stories and shoutouts. We love to hear your stories of how the Library has impacted your life, how it has helped you succeed, find a job, pass a test, connect with resources, love to read, discover something new, develop new skills and everything in between. Please share your own love for the Library in the comment section!

“First couple of months this year, I used the library’s internet to check Email, Facebook, and job applications. Now, I work at a job I just love. Thanks for being there OPL when things were tough. The public library: Not just books!”

“I am a long retired professional engineer living in Vars trying with increasingly difficulty to keep abreast of technical developments in downloading library books. I asked for help at the branch yesterday and was given a most masterful and complete tutorial by your librarian. This is to let you know how much I appreciate what your branch has done to make reading easier and, in my case, possible for seniors.”

“I love coming to this branch with my daycare children, I have been coming for about five years on a weekly basis. The librarians here are so welcoming and helpful, they go out of their way to find materials for us and make suggestions for my varying age groups. The circle times are fabulous, we love storytimes!

“OPL is so great. I can’t imagine how I’d be able to be a writer and a reader without it.”

“My six month old and I attended Babytime in Parkdale Park this summer. We really enjoyed ourselves. Staff was great at leading the group, welcoming newcomers and ensuring that adults had the time and space to interact.

From the Twittersphere:

“Made a very important discovery with my library card: @Kanopy, ie: Netflix for prestige films. Downloaded to my AppleTV and can use my account to stream Criterion Collection, Janus films, HBO docs, European new wave, new and old, Oscar/Cannes winners. And free! Thank you OPL for making life a little more affordable.”

“Libraries continue to serve such an important role as a curated space for public reading and (quiet) togetherness.”

“I actually joined the library last month after years of not being a member (not since I lived in Toronto 20 some years ago). I feel as though I've opened another world for myself again.”

Answering the question: how often do you visit the Library

“Like... half a dozen times a week easily. That doesn’t include the ebooks we access from the comfort of home. Or the activities and classes. Also the library website is a good research starting point.”

“Easily 2-3 times a month. Great community resource and hub. And oh yeah, all the stories!!”
