London 2012

For those who will be visiting London this summer, either in person or in spirit, we have compiled a list of over 20 titles that might interest you. These are not your regular travel guides, such as Frommer's or Fodor's, however; rather, we have selected a variety of titles which feature London's people, places, and history from different viewpoints. The four titles below are just a sample from our list:

 Derelict London

Derelict London depicts the beauty of London’s urban decay.

Taking a Studs Terkel approach, the author inverviewed 200 Londoners about the city they love. Interviewees include the voice of the Underground (“Mind the Gap”), a taxi driver, a soldier in the Queen’s Life Guard, and a dumpster diver.

The Beatles' London

The Beatles' London: See the city through the Beatles’ eyes—where they lived, ate and shopped.

London Under

London under: The story of everything that goes on or lies under London, including the Tube, sewers, hidden rivers, and Anglo-Saxon graves.
