Mark your calendars for One eRead livestream events!

One eRead book cover on tablet

Apr 19, 2022

Hey Canada! We hope you have been enjoying the discussions happening so far on Facebook and Twitter about The Break. More conversations will take place at the live virtual events on April 20 and April 21, both from 7-8 pm (EST), with other people across Canada who are also reading The Break!

Since this digital book club is bilingual, we are happy to share that an event in each language will take place through livestreams on Facebook and Twitter. In English, you’ll get the opportunity to hear from the author of The Break, Katherena Vermette, who will be in conversation with Shelagh Rogers, host of CBC’s The Next Chapter,on April 20, at 7 pm. During the French event on April 21, at 7 pm, you’ll get to hear from the French translator of The Break, Mélissa Verreault, in conversation with Marie-Louise Arsenault, host of Plus on est de fous, plus on lit! on Ici Radio-Canada Première. We hope you will join in to ask your questions and to learn more about The Break.

The Break won awards and great reviews, being called a powerful intergenerational family saga… and a window on to the lives of people in Winnipeg’s North End. Readers have said they’ve been moved by the dramatic but realistic story and enjoyed hearing it told through the perspectives of various characters.

So if you haven’t done it already, weinvite you to download The Break, that way you’ll be in the know on the days of the events, and you’ll be able to engage with others reading the book online through One eRead’s Twitter www.twitter.com/1eRead_unLivrel as well as on Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/587015915117183.

We are counting down the days to the livestream events on April 20 and 21 and look forward to reading your comments in the many exchanges that will take place on Facebook and Twitter.
