    • RETURNS will be accepted only during hours of operation, no appointment necessary. Due dates for currently checked out materials have been extended and late fees suspended.
    • HOLDS PICKUPS are by appointment only. Make an appointment here.

NEON 2019: New Entrepreneurs of Ottawa Networking Event


Are you a new entrepreneur? Are you thinking of starting a business? Do you want to network with entrepreneurs in the community? Join us for the annual New Entrepreneurs of Ottawa Networking (NEON) Event! NEON brings small business owners together with the goal to find inspiration in one another and at the same time obtain relevant information.  

When: Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 5:40 to 8:30 p.m.
Place: Ben Franklin Place, Atrium and Chamber 

This year's NEON offers a rare opportunity to hear from very successful entrepreneurs who are also experts at Marketing.  Marketing is a huge topic and a challenge for many businesses.  It involves not only traditional marketing (radio, print, TV, email), but also digital marketing and online presence, and strategy development with branding, knowing your audience / your client, image and messaging, SEO, social media, lead generation, working with followers, content marketing and more.  Come to learn about the techniques and strategies in marketing!

  • Zainab Muse, Founder and CEO of WINGD. Zainab was named a Canada Strategist.  She is a process designer, interactive digital media expert, and mission-driven entrepreneur.  Zainab advocates for youth leadership and women & newcomer entrepreneurship.  She trailblazes by ushering in innovative strategies and new technologies to businesses. 
  • Dave McLeod, Owner and Marketing Strategist of Reenvision Marketing.  Reenvision specializes in inbound marketing to attract, convert, and close customers. 
  • Chris Castillo, Serial entrepreneur and Coach with Master Entrepreneur.  Chris has experience starting and growing several businesses in different industries.  He teaches Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Algonquin College.
  • Harpreet Singh, Founder and Principal Consultant of Zoho Consulting. Zoho Consulting specializes in Strategy Development, Marketing, Business Planning, Leadership Development, Change and Innovation Management, and Employee Engagement.  Harpreet helps startups and SMEs across various industry sectors.

The discussion on marketing will be moderated by Emile Salem, Co-Founder of Collab Space and Business Mentor. 

This annual event is organized by the Ottawa Public Library, with a network of small businesses. This year's NEON event was a collaboration with the following partners:  Invest Ottawa, Ottawa Community Loan Fund, Algonquin Centre for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneursship, CollabSpace, World Skills, In-TAC, and Futurpreneur.
Following the panel, there will be a trade show during which attendees can learn about local organizations and government services who provide services to the business community and who offer their support services to entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. This will be the perfect opportunity to network with fellow entrepreneurs over refreshments!
