OMIC 2021 Awards Logo

Mar 29, 2021

The inaugural OMIC Capital Music Awards got a bit of a blow last March (as did we all) but they are back again this year with the 2nd Annual Capital Music Awards.  The call for nominations ends March 31st, 2021 -- so click here to get your picks in if you are an OMIC member in good standing.  All the winners of the 8 categories will be announced during the broadcast special of the Capital Music Awards 2021 at the end of April on RogersTV Ottawa on Channel 22. Anyone can tune into the awards and get an earful of the Ottawa local music scene as the program will feature 5 pre-recorded performances!.  Check the OMIC website for updates about the broadcast.

There are 8 awards categories, 2 of which are new this year:

  1. Single of the Year

  2. Album of the Year *new this year!

  3. Artist of the Year

  4. Group of the Year

  5. Video of the Year

  6. Best Production and Arrangements * new this year!

  7. Impact Award

  8. Virtual Performance of the Year *previously Entertainer of the Year

The Capital Music Awards recognizes artists and members of the community who contribute to Ottawa’s diverse music scene. This second edition of the awards will showcase some of the best that the region has to offer and help promote the local music scene to the rest of Canada and beyond. The awards would also provide a platform to honour inductees towards an Ottawa Music Hall of Fame, as envisioned by the Ottawa Music Strategy.
