OPL Teen Author Fest is celebrating 10 years


Teen Author Fest (TAF) is back and we're celebrating its 10th edition!

This year’s festival unfolds as a series of author events happening throughout the month and will feature four great authors of the Young Adult (YA) genre. YA fans will get the chance to connect with top YA authors and attend fascinating talks or inspiring writing workshops. 

On Wednesday, October 16, S.K. Ali, author of Love from A to Z and the 2017 hit Saints and Misfits will kick start the festival and lead a writing workshop at the Beaverbrook branch at 7 pm.  S.K Ali returns to OPL Fest after making her TAF debut in the 2017 edition. This event is in English only.

On Wednesday, October 23, Gloria Chao, the critically acclaimed author of Our Wayward Fate will lead a writing workshop at the Cumberland branch at 7 pm. Learn about Gloria’s journey to discovering her passion for writing, how she found her voice, and what the publication process looks like. This event is in English only.

On Thursday, October 24, Dominique Demers, the acclaimed French-Canadian author of household characters such as Mademoiselle C, Valentine Picotée and Marie-Lune will be leading the workshop Au bonheur d’écrire avec Dominique Demers at the Orléans branch at 7 pm. Her latest novel L’albatros et la mésange came out earlier this year. Dominique will discuss her career path from being a journalist to an author of children, teen and adult fiction. This event is in French Only.

On Wednesday, October 30, Kendare Blake, acclaimed YA Fantasy author of Five Dark Fates will be at the Nepean Centrepointe branch at 7 pm, for a Talk and Q&A with YA Author Kendare Blake. The #1 New York Times bestselling author will lead a discussion and answer audience questions about her dark YA fantasy books. This event in English only.
