The Graphic Novels & Comics collection at Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is extremely popular in both print & eBook formats @ overdrive and CloudLibrary. We are pleased to announce that we have just launched the Hoopla Comics collection on our existing Hoopla Platform as of December 19, 2022.

Legendary characters, classic storylines, iconic entertainment: they’re all here on Hoopla Comics, and
there’s something for everyone, at any reading level.

Here are a few facts about the Hoopla Comics collection:

  • Over 26 thousand titles, including Ms. Marvel, Batman, Sandman, Chivalry, Saga, Nice House on the Lake, Days of Sand, Big Nate, Avatar, Minecraft, and many more.
  • All titles are available instantly to borrow
  • Includes these major publishers: DC Comics, Marvel Entertainment, Dark Horse Comics, Archie Comics, Image Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, etc.
  • Seamlessly switch between “page view” and “action view
  • Titles are available for 21 days and are available for streaming and downloading only on mobile devices.

Our monthly borrow credits for Hoopla will remain the same, i.e.: clients can stream or temporarily download up to a total of six titles per month per card across all the Hoopla collections (comics, movies, music, television, and Binge passes).

After you log in to the Hoopla platform, move the cursor to Browse and click on Comics from the drop-down menu. This will bring you to the home page of Hoopla Comics.

You can browse the Hoopla platform to explore all their categories, from the 2022 Eisner Award Winners, to the Best of 2022, and more.

Hoopla Comics is our OPL’s Christmas gift to our clients: first-time comics readers, and die-hard fans alike.

Enjoy reading during the holiday season and beyond!

Best News Ever!!!! :D

Hoopla items in catalogue?

Some libraries using the Bibliocommons platform list Hoopla titles in their catalogue, but OPL doesn't seem to be doing that. Is there any chance that this could be done? It would make finding titles much easier. Thanks!
