This February, we invite you to read and reflect with Esi Edugyan's critically acclaimed, coming of age story, Washington Black. As part of the library's Black History Month program, this digital eBook is available to borrow right away, no holds, for all library members.

Esi Edugyan won the prestigious Giller Prize for Washington Black in 2018, as well as a second time for Half-Blood Blues in 2011. This fascinating novel follows the protagonist "Wash" who escapes slavery in Barbados and travels the world: he goes to Virginia, Nova Scotia, and Morocco. Wash pursues his passions, love, and finding his own identity.
