Ready, set, draw!

17/03/2016

Every year, the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library publish a collection of winning poems and short stories in both English and French from the Awesome Authors writing contest. The book is called pot-pourri and it needs a cover for the 2016 edition. We’re looking for submissions of original art from children and youth aged 9 to 17. One winner will be selected to have their art be the concept for the cover illustration for pot-pourri 2016.

Your drawing should be done on an unlined 8.5” x 11” sheet of white paper. You can use pencils, crayons, markers or paint – whatever you prefer. The drawing should fill the entire page and must contain the title of the book: pot-pourri 2016.

On the back of the page, please include your name, age, and phone number so that we can contact the winner, and bring it to the service hub at any branch of the Ottawa Public Library before they close on April 30, 2016.

We’ll notify the winner by phone no later than May 31, 2016. If you win, you will need to sign a publishing agreement that gives us permission to use your art as inspiration for the cover. The winner will receive a free copy of pot-pourri 2016 and will be credited for the cover design on the back cover of the book like this: “Cover design concept by NAME.”

Will you be the cover artist for pot-pourri 2016? You’ll never know unless you try!
