Dec 19, 2024
As the year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the achievements of Ottawa Public Library this year, and the incredible efforts and dedication of everyone who contributed to this success.
2024 was a year of accomplishments both big and small. From championing the Joy of Reading during Library Month, to achieving major progress on both the construction and service planning of the Central branch at Ᾱdisōke, to connecting with community members and clients every day in our branches and in our engagement activities. Each of these, and the many other achievements of 2024, reflect what we can accomplish when we work together with shared vision. It isn’t an overstatement to say that public libraries are socially and culturally important organizations, and I am deeply proud to work within a system that understands both the joy and the responsibility of our role.
To our partners: it is only through collaboration that we can achieve our goals, and we are grateful for so much ongoing cooperation and commitment. Collaboration provides many things: support for initiatives we cannot deliver alone, a broader reach for our offerings, a deeper understanding of our community. From our project partners at the new Central branch at Ādisōke, to every community organization who has helped us understand the diverse needs and interests of our residents, thank you! It is an honour to reflect on the relationships we have built and on our shared accomplishments.
And to you, to everyone who uses the Library, to our community: thank you for being our clients. The very best way to support Ottawa Public Library is to use our services regularly, so thank you for being here, for using our services, for participating in our programs, for providing your feedback, and for your love of reading. Your enthusiasm and engagement inspire us every day. We are deeply grateful for your trust and for making our library a vibrant, welcoming space. Together, we create a community where knowledge, creativity, and connection thrive. Thank you for being an essential part of our story.
As we look to 2025, I’m excited about what lies ahead – new opportunities to grow, innovate, collaborate, connect, and to make a meaningful difference. I know that with this incredible team, our supportive partners, and you, our library clients, the best is yet to come.
On behalf of everyone at Ottawa Public Library, I wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and, of course, great stories. May the new year bring inspiration, curiosity, and joyful reading. We look forward to seeing you in 2025.
Warm regards
