Reading Draw  Throughout the summer, kids are encouraged to read as much as possible to avoid the summer slide, where literacy levels drop during the summer. Kids can receive a calendar to track their progress in their TD Summer Reading Club reading log. Towards the end of summer, all kids who participated in Summer Reading Club will have a chance to win a fabulous prize by entering their reading log into a prize draw. Parents can pick up a reading log chart for each of their young readers at any of our branches.   The OPL is also very excited to announce that we are partnering with the Canadian Museum of History to incorporate into our Summer Reading Club a number of their celebrated Canadian History Boxes. Designed for inquiry-based learning, each Box contains within it a diverse collection of artifacts re-created by artists to inspire interest into Canadian History. They will be visiting 16 of our branch locations throughout the following months, so make sure to check our website https://biblioottawalibrary.ca/ to find out which location nearest you will be hosting one! The TD Summer Reading Club is a popular summer tradition for kids and families, one of the ways OPL promotes literacy for kids of all ages. Children will not want to miss out on the summer reading fun! For more information about the TD Summer Reading Club, visit BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca.
