Summer Reading in Richmond

By Wanda_H

Froggy is in the house. Richmond readers have read over 1000 books and we still have 6 weeks of summer to read. Amazing! Tree house Scaredy Squirrel and Froggy

The next friend to climb into our tree house is Paddington Bear. Have you read the books Michael Bond wrote about Paddington bear?  I think he will be a fun but messy tree house guest. Come into the Library and tell us what you think.

And while you're here join the Summer Reading Club, tell us how many books you have read and add to our LEGO structure.

LEGO and Scaredy Squirrel, not your favourite? Do you know we are also on an Epic Road Trip...Follow the book mobile as you read across Canada.

Two of our friends won prizes in the library last week.

Noah B. played our I SPY CANADA game. He found the Canadian Goose hiding in the library, entered the draw and won a prize! Congratulations Noah B.  Noah was also well on the way to losing a tooth, which was quite exciting.Noah with a prize

Olivia also won a prize in the library this week. Olivia entered our summer reading draw after she told us how many books she read during the week. Congratulations Olivia.

A lot of fun things happened at the Richmond Library this week;

On Monday we had Roger D. Wilson in to teach us about animation on film and kids made a movie. You can watch it here.

Tuesday we had kids in the library for two different Storytime programs; Home is Where the Art is and Colours of the Northern Lights. Everyone made a Northern Lights craft using chalk and dark paper that looked great! Want to learn more about the Northern Lights? We have books and you can read more on the University of Alberta's Aurora Watch web site.

Wednesday's Family Reading Adventure was inside this week as the grass was too wet, but we had a great time reading, singing, dancing and crafting. Books and felt board fireworks and fireflies from Family Reading Adventure

Every Friday is our Drop-In and craft day. This week we made Beautiful Butterflies! Fun. Butterfly craft, child holding craft

WE have SO MUCH to Blog about at Richmond, come and join us this week!

See you soon, keep Reading
