Attention all Ottawa parents, babysitters and guardians and don’t let your young ones miss the exciting last week of Summerland, OPL’s 2020 edition of our summer reading club from August 17 to 21. We have a few more tricks up our sleeves and discoveries to share with kids aged 0 to 12 to bring this extraordinary summer of reading and learning to a rousing conclusion.
On the program:
On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at 11 am in English and 1:30 pm in French, Brad Lafortune will take you on an exploratory and musical visit to the world of Métis culture where you can tap your toes and enjoy jigging, the Irish‑influenced traditional dance of the Métis people.
On Friday, August 21, at 11 am, Wise Atangana will deliver his unique blend of hip hop, percussion and urban African much, and wow everyone with incredible music from his latest albums! There’s no better way to discover Wise Atangana’s irresistible fusion of slam, hip hop, and contemporary African music than tuning in to this interactive online concert.
Luc Leduc will reappear on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 1:30 pm to deliver a thrilling magic show as part of the closing ceremony for our Summerland summer reading club! A magical time for the whole family!
Readers are always winners and this summer OPL is offering a bonus with amazing prizes for lucky Summerland readers! To enter our summer reading draw, kids ages 0 to 12 track the days they read over the summer on a calendar. to download our calendar sample, and read this for contest and prize details. Email a picture of your calendar to between August 24 and 31 or text it to 613‑580‑2940, and be sure to include your child’s name and library card number. One entry per child.
