Step 1: Contactless services inside most open branches

17/06/2021

There are contactless services inside most of our 31 open branches, with strict capacity limits in place, as of June 14, 2021, except at Metcalfe Village, Orléans and Rosemount. This means:

  • Pick up holds and check them out at self-checkout stations.
  • Return borrowed items to book drops anytime.
  • Access to PCs, Chromebooks, and printing, where these are available.
  • No other services: no browsing, no washroom access.
  • Mask-wearing remains mandatory inside, and outside in line.

BRANCHES WITHOUT A REOPENING DATE

With this new wave of reopening, 28 of our 33 branches will be offering in-person services. We continue to plan for the reopening of the Constance Bay, Fitzroy Harbour, Munster, Osgoode, and Vernon branches in 2021, and we are exploring options for services in these communities.

For more details on current in-person services, please visit our Current Branch Services page.

Hold Services

Hello, Do we know if some of the previous services like adding new holds to our queues will be offered again soon?

Hold Services

Hello. You can currently place new holds for pickup at open branches or at branches that are reopening soon. There is currently a limit of 100 physical holds per customer, so if you already had more than 100 holds before the closure in March, you cannot place new holds until your total holds are back under 100. Thank you.

return to pre-pandemic hold limit

Will this limit of 100 holds remain or is there a plan to return to unlimited holds as before the closure in March

Answer?

There's been no reply to this question, and I for one am also very interested in the answer...

return to pre-pandemic hold limit

Hello. We are currently monitoring holds volumes, and we are keeping the 100 cap for now due to limited library resources and services during the pandemic. We will review this as we consider expanding services in the new year. Thank you.

Book returns

Any idea when we can return books in the book drop when the library is closed?

Book returns

Hello. As part of our health and safety measures, we are currently only accepting returns during operating hours to limit the handling of materials for our staff. We will be sure to announce any changes to this on all our platforms. We appreciate your patience with our new procedures during this time. Thank you.

How can I renew my card which came due in March 2020?

While checking the site previously, I noted that late fees would be waived until the end of 2020. Is this still the case, and will it continue on in 2021?
