how to reserve audio-books

How can I choose audio books and pick them up? Is this service now available?

how to reserve audio-books

Hello. You can place holds on audiobooks on our catalogue here: https://ottawa.bibliocommons.com/. You can pick up holds once they are available during opening hours: https://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/library. Thank you.

Can I renew an ebook?

If you have borrowed an eBook from Overdrive, three days before it expires, you will see a renew option in your account as long as there are no holds on the item (https://help.overdrive.com/en-us/0260.html). Express eBooks from Cloud Library cannot be renewed, but if they become available after they have expired, you will be able to check them out again. Thank you.

Branches offering new in-person services

When libraries re-open on August 17 will you consider offering curb side holds pickup for those at higher risk who don’t want to enter the library due to higher numbers of customers? Thank you.

Branches offering new in-person services

We understand your concern, and we have worked very hard to ensure customer and employee safety. Branch capacity will be limited to respect provincial gathering limits and to allow for physical distancing. Directional markers will indicate customers in which direction to circulate. Lots of space will ensure that employee and customers can respect physical distancing guidelines. Other safety measures include wearing masks, quarantining returned library items, and enhanced cleaning and sanitization to ensure the safety of our customers and employees.  Please let employees know of your concern when you arrive at the branch. Thank you.

Mandatory (?) Application of In-Branch Hand Sanitizer

Where does the OPL get the authority to insist that its patrons apply the OPL-provided hand sanitizer before pre-requested (and separately-shelved) books can be checked out of the library? Does this new 'policy' now apply to all of its branches? If so, perhaps this should be posted on your website.

Mandatory (?) Application of In-Branch Hand Sanitizer

OPL is providing hand sanitizer at all branch entrances and exits as part of our health and safety measures. Note that it is not mandatory. Thank you.

Updates to hand sanitizer policy?

On recent visits to the main branch of the library, someone at the entrance has been insisting visitors use the hand sanitizer. Is this now a new policy? If not, I don't think they should be insisting on it as though it is a rule.

Updates to hand sanitizer policy?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. While we provide hand sanitizer at all branch entrances and exits as part of our health and safety measure, and encourage customers to use it before and after entering a branch and handling library materials, it is not mandatory. We've forwarded your comment to the branch manager to follow up. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite sensitive to strong smells, so would greatly prefer to use my own hand sanitizer.
