Starting Monday, February 22:

  • 25 of our 28 open branches will offer returns and holds pick up inside the branches, as well as browsing, and use of public computers.
  • Rosemount, Orléans, and Metcalfe branches will offer contactless returns and holds pick up inside the branches.
  • The Bookmobile will offer browsing of a small collection at all stops.
  • Hours of operation will remain the same.
  • Mask wearing inside the branches, and outside in line, remain mandatory.

Cooking Class with Chef Bruce Wood: Pasta Carbonara and Chicken

Carbonara, like The Girl from Ipanema is one of the most widely riffed, yet badly interpreted classics out there. Proper, soothing and delicious Carbonara is quick and easy to make with only a few ingredients. Join us as Chef Bruce shows us how to create this delicious classic, along with chicken thighs with yummy rub. This is how a server used to refer to the spice mixture that we used on chicken. Smoked paprika is becoming ubiquitous these days but try to get the La Chinata brand in the red tin if you can. 

At age 17, Bruce Wood remembers savouring a spicy bowl of authentic Jamaican goat curry and, in his words, “seeing the world in colour.” It was the first step on a path that led to a career as a chef that has spanned 35 years, many kitchens, farms & classrooms, and a life spent sharing his passion and love for local, seasonal and sustainable food.
