The – Canada’s political and government news service

Customers can access PDF versions of Ottawa's own twice-weekly newspaper, as well as previous, achieved issues back to 2004, or download and print a copy.  They can also search articles dating back to 1989, and access PDF versions of the Embassy Archives from 2004 to 2016. The Hill Times absorbed Embassy magazine and doubled its print edition to be twice-a-week starting from April 2016.

In addition to the digital edition of the Hill Times, there will be full access to for daily updated breaking exclusive stories and in-depth articles about the people, the policies, and the politics that make the news. Enjoy a diversity of opinions and points of view, from various political angles.

Naxos MusicBox is a brand new carefully produced and beautifully presented music resource for children. 

Naxos MusicBox is an educational tool. It offers friendly, informative written texts, colourful and clear design, and tailored playlists of over 4,000 audio tracks. Selections are presented in logical and engaging ways with lessons and examples. This is not merely a streaming platform; it is intended to enhance the music education of children aged 4–12. 

The website is based predominantly on classical music and there are numerous interactive activities included (e.g. multiple-choice listening questions that children can answer online). There are also specific activities for teachers to work through in a classroom. The site will be continually updated and expanded.

SOLARO is an online study resource. It takes a proactive approach to student’s education by continuing the learning process outside of school hours to supplement what students learn at school.

TumbleMath is a comprehensive collection of online math, story and picture books that includes full narration and animation. Lesson plans and quizzes are available and specifically written to address math standards.

NFB Campus streams almost 1,500 more films than the free NFB site. (Those 1,500 extra films  are only available for streaming in library through OPL NFB Campus subscription; The other 4,500 films are available free from NFB site

These 6,000 films are 99% Canadian content in English and in French. They provide a focus on Canadian content and ready-made curated channels and playlists on a variety of topics, including children’s movies, Indigenous cinema, Indigenous voices, and reconciliation.

The Road to IELTS - Academic module provides an introduction, advice and tutorials, as well as interactive practices and simulated mock tests. These will help people prepare for the IELTS academic exam for higher education or professional registration in an English-speaking environment.

Ottawa Public Library is now a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, this designation means library clients will now have greater and more convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available through FamilySearch at our 33 branches.

A collection of thousands of individual genealogy databases from many different institutions. It includes American, Canadian and U.K. sources as well as some for Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Canadian coverage includes major sources such as the censuses from 1851 to 1916, Ontario civil registration of births, marriages and deaths, and the Quebec Drouin Collection (courthouse copies of parish registers). German records include passenger lists for many people leaving Eastern Europe. New databases are constantly being added.  Many of the sources are digitized.  Bring a USB flash drive to download your records.
