Blue Roses Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion

Come to view a compelling local documentary that follows frontline care providers as they navigate Ottawa's inner-city rooming houses and the hidden communities of the marginally-housed that they serve. Community members living in rooming houses in Ottawa's inner-city face poverty, addiction and mental illness that often lead to their premature death alone in their room or on the street. The unique care provided by nurses and people with lived experience in this film challenges conventional approaches to the palliative care typically provided to people with a terminal illness and dying in hospitals and hospices.

This film was voted Audience Favourite at the 2018 One World Film Festival and is an official selection for the Regina International Film Festival Awards 2019.

The film screening is followed by a panel discussion with local leaders that will unpack the issues of gaps in end-of-life care for the underserved in the community. It will be moderated by Wendy Muckle of Ottawa Inner City Health.

The screening is sponsored by Compassionate Ottawa.
