Regular hours resume on September 7 2021

Ottawa Public Library will return to regular pre-pandemic hours at most branches starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021 — including Sunday hours at 10 branches and InfoService as of Sunday, September 12.  

Hours are posted at branch entrances and on the Hours and location page of the OPL website.   

Fitzroy Harbour and Vernon branches are reopening after being closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The elevator at Rideau is currently out of service for maintenance and repairs. Service will be restored on Monday, September 27th.

Breathe & Flow: Meditation and Mindfulness for Seniors

Do you want to know more about mindfulness and meditation?  Would you like to give mindfulness and meditation a try?  Join Pamela Thomson, local Certified Beginner Meditation Teacher, for this class to learn and practice simple and effective techniques to quiet your mind, relax your body, balance your moods, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, increase mental clarity and presence of mind, better health, happiness and vitality, cultivate energy, intuition and creativity. These are just some of the many benefits of mindfulness and meditation.   Pam will discuss and demonstrate:

  • Common myths and misconceptions
  • Health benefits
  • Simple and effective breathing techniques to relax the body and mind as well as mindfulness cues that can be used at any time 
  • How meditation and mindfulness work
  • How you can incorporate meditation and mindfulness into your daily life and nurture your practice

Register to attend and to receive the Zoom link. Kits with supplies instructions will be provided.  Arrangements for pickup of kits will be made by email a week before the class.
