Haiku workshop with Grant Savage

An introduction to haiku and its variations. A workshop for beginners. Those who count syllables need not apply. Examples of famous, and not so famous, and truncated versions of famous haiku, as exercises. 3 liners, two liners, one liners. Season words. Slenderness as a virtue in poetry. This poet's views of the haiku world. Tradition vs experiment, contests, publishing etc. The workshop is open to those who have never written a haiku, but bring two or three of your own for sharing if you have.

Grant Savage has four full length books and four chaps books, including three books of haiku. He has been a haiku contest judge of a number of major haiku contests, and has been writing haiku and other Japanese forms since 1985.
