Our Soldiers' Stories

At the time of remembrance of the participation and sacrifice of Canadian soldiers fighting on behalf of Canada in wars overseas, share an evening with two local authors hosted by Ottawa Public Library in Dominion Chalmers United Church, Woodside Hall.

Renowned historian Tim Cook CM, author of a two-volume definitive account of Canadians in the Second World War, will read from the second volume, Fight to the Finish: Canadians in the Second World War, 1944-1945 , discuss his research on the role of Canadians in World Wars I and II, and his most recent book, Vimy: The Battle and the Legend.

Researcher Jane Cooper, author of Private Sully Goes to War: An Eastern Ontario Boy Writes to His Girl from the Trenches in World War One, reads from her book and discusses the primary source letters and photographs from World War One that make up this book.
