Paul Heztler -Living off the grid on a shoelace - Adult speaker series

Paul Hetzler head shot, cabin, power switch

Join as Rockcliffe Park to hear the inaugural presentation of  "I Started with Nothing and Have Most of it Left: How my Kids and I Established a Solar-Powered Homestead on 100 acres with a few Dollars and a Dream" from Paul Heztler - author, arborist, who lives entirely off-grid and frequently off the wall.

Paul  will outline his family's joyful, muddled journey of buying a decrepit 1898-ca. house and 100 magical, rugged acres to live off the land to a great extent for 20 years. They salvaged lumber and hardware to construct no-cost outbuildings; begged, borrowed, and bought a mishmash solar panels one at a time; and plugged into support from the wider community while falling deeply in love with the freedom offered by a "Neanderthal" lifestyle.

His writing has appeared in Highlights for Children, Prime Number magazine, and was featured in the British medical journal The Lancet.  As a published author his books such as "Shady Characters, Plant Vampires, Caterpillar Soup, Leprechaun Trees, and Other Hilarities of the Natural World", are filled with an equal amount of humour and interesting facts.
