Provincial State of Emergency: Impact to OPL Services

OPL services have not been impacted by the provincial announcement on Tuesday, January 12. Curbside returns and holds pickup services will continue at open branches.

Hours of operation will remain the same for most branches. Greely, North Gower, and Richmond branches will shift their hours to close by 8 p.m., and all Bookmobile stops will close by 8 p.m.

Forging Hope out of Uncertainty : A First Voice

Join us for a compelling and inspirational evening with Biba Tinga, a first voice from the Black community.  Biba will share her long and difficult road to save her son’s life, beginning as a teen mother of a child born with sickle cell disease (SCD) in Niger, West Africa. She and her family then immigrated to Canada, adapting to a new life, which led her to taking on the advocacy for thousands of people living with this genetic disease in this country. This is the story of a mom, an immigrant and an advocate. You will be inspired by Biba’s story.

 
ABOUT THE FIRST VOICE:
 
Biba Tinga is the President and Executive Director of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Canada, a national organization advocating for comprehensive health care for those with sickle cell disease (SCD).  She brings a wealth of experience and longstanding dedication to improving conditions for people with sickle cell disease. She also serves on the Board of Directors of GASCDO, the Global Alliance for Sickle Cell Disease Organizations.
