Well-known author Monia Mazigh will take you on a journey with her latest novel Faridaon January 13 at 6 pm.

Born in Tunisia, Monia Mazigh immigrated to Canada in 1991 and currently lives in Ottawa. As a human rights activist, she first came into the media spotlight as she battled to free her husband captured in Syria. She published in 2008, Les larmes emprisonnées, which recounts the highlights of this harsh chapter of her life. Her charisma and passion have impressed many and led her to national and international recognition. Mazigh’s literary and activist journey did not stop there. Involved as an activist in several human rights organizations and advocating social justice, she ran in the 2004 federal election as the New Democratic Party candidate for the riding of Ottawa South.

So, mark your calendar and sign up for this upcoming session of Croisée des motsas it promises to be a series of engaging discussions! The Library and the AAOF are honoured to host such a talented author. Mazigh will talk about her last novel, Farida, and read a few excerpts. Farida is no exception to the activist vitality, moving style and feminist approach of the author. The novel pays tribute to an entire generation of Tunisian women and motivates readers to revisit the clichés about the ignorance, oppression, or submission of Arab-Muslim women. Farida is available in OPL’s collection to borrow right now.
