Parenting

The Ottawa Public Library is here to help you help your child develop language and other early literacy skills.

Children who enter kindergarten with pre-reading skills will learn to read more easily and will be better students.

The library welcomes children of all ages, but responsibility for their safety and supervision remains in the hands of their parents, guardians and caregivers. Parents, guardians and caregivers are reminded that children may be at risk in a public place and should not be left alone or unattended in or about the Library premises.

Parents, guardians and caregivers must remain in the library while the children they are supervising attend programs.

If an unaccompanied child is found in the library, and if the parent, guardian or caregiver cannot be located, employees may contact the Children's Aid Society (CAS) or the Ottawa Police Department.
