Commemorative naming policy

Commemorative naming is defined as a public act of collective memory of the impact of an individual, group of people, event, or activity in shaping a community. Ottawa Public Library (OPL) provides opportunities for commemorative naming of spaces within OPL facilities, events, or programs. The OPL Board Commemorative Naming Policy outlines the commemorative naming parameters for the Library.

For additional details regarding the commemorative naming process, including the contact information for applications, please see the City of Ottawa’s Commemorative Naming Policy for Municipal Parks, Streets, and Facilities.

For a list of OPL honourees, please see the Commemorative Naming & Order of Friendship Recipients page.
