Step 1: Contactless services inside most open branches

17/06/2021

There are contactless services inside most of our 31 open branches, with strict capacity limits in place, as of June 14, 2021, except at Metcalfe Village, Orléans and Rosemount. This means:

  • Pick up holds and check them out at self-checkout stations.
  • Return borrowed items to book drops anytime.
  • Access to PCs, Chromebooks, and printing, where these are available.
  • No other services: no browsing, no washroom access.
  • Mask-wearing remains mandatory inside, and outside in line.

Pet series : Training Fundamentals

This session on training fundamentals will include topics such as: what to expect when registering your dog for dog training, time and monetary investments, benefits of formal training, puppy vs dog training, training specific to a house with children, socialization vs training, training in the COVID-age, behavior issues that need correction (barking, separation anxiety, etc.)…

ABOUT THE SERIES

During the pandemic, a lot of people are adopting pets. But adopting a pet comes with the responsibility of caring for them and training them. This has resulted in a huge demand for pet-training services-- right when many training schools and pet stores are closed because of lockdown! There is also a new twist to online scams, with "offers" for expensive dogs online! Where is the new or potential pet owner to go for resources or events about purchasing a pet?

The Ottawa Public Library is therefore partnering with Ruff House to offer an online series of tips, resources, guides and demonstrations to help inform locked down pet owners. Sessions will include basic training, grooming, feeding, essentials you need to know / have when getting a dog, what is and is not available in the way of services during lockdowns, online resources, and even alerts about the scams online.
