    A one-hour online workshop featuring a film industry professional who will share their own experiences in the industry and provide an overview of career paths in Canadian film and television. Presented by REEL Canada. Ages 13-18.

    About the Speakers

    Kourtney Jackson is a Toronto-based writer and filmmaker interested in hybridized, experimental forms of storytelling that exist within and transcend the physical body. Centred in the socio-cultural collisions of subjectivity, surveillance, and societal prescriptions of identity, her films 1 versus 1 (2018) and Wash Day (2020) have screened locally and internationally at festivals including TIFF Next Wave, BlackStar Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival (Ignite x Adobe), and many more. She currently works as a Program Coordinator at the OYA Black Arts Coalition.

    The workshop will be facilitated by Eric Bizzarri, who is an award-winning Canadian director and producer based in Toronto, and the Co-Founder and CEO of the Future of Film Showcase, a film festival based in Toronto, ON.

    Hail Adventurers! Join us for a 1-session D&D adventure for teens.  Players of all experience levels are welcome. Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy role-playing game in which your characters explore the world, solve puzzles and fight monsters. Space is limited to 6 participants. Registration Required. For ages 13-18.

    In this online workshop, you will learn about finding sources of funding for your post-secondary education, managing your expenses, strategies to deal with the debt that you do have and avoid excess debt, understanding your credit report and building good credit, building financial management skills, identifying how your behaviour with credit today may impact your future, and the difference between good debt and bad debt.  For ages 13-18.

Cet atelier explorera comment nos expériences en ligne sont façonnées par des algorithmes, comment ces algorithmes prennent des décisions basées sur nos informations personnelles et comment les adolescents peuvent prendre le contrôle de leur identité et de leur expérience en ligne.      Cette séance est présentée par Marc-Alexandre Ladouceur, spécialiste en éducation aux médias chez HabiloMédias, le centre Canadien de littératie aux médias numériques.

    Whether it’s how a search engine sorts query results or how a video site decides what videos to recommend to you, algorithms have become a central part of our lives. This session will explore how our online experiences are shaped by algorithms, how those algorithms make decisions based on our personal information, and how teens can take control of their online identity and experience. For ages 13-18.

     This session is presented by Marc-Alexandre Ladouceur, Media Education Specialist at MediaSmarts, Canada's centre for digital media literacy.

    An overdose is a life-threatening medical emergency. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, while waiting for 911 to arrive. Being able to recognize the signs of an overdose quickly and having a naloxone kit can save a life.

    Join Ottawa Public Health nurses for this 30-minute virtual information and training session on how to identify and respond to an overdose, including how to administer Naloxone, followed by a 15-minute Q&A. Information on how to obtain a free kit will be provided as part of this presentation.

    Program is virtual only. Email with link to event will be sent out days before the program.

    Joignez-vous aux infirmières de Santé publique Ottawa pour cette session virtuelle d'information et de formation de 30 minutes sur la façon d'identifier et de réagir à une surdose, y compris sur la façon d'administrer la Naloxone, suivie d'une période de questions de 15 minutes. Des renseignements sur la façon d'obtenir une trousse gratuite seront fournis dans le cadre de cette présentation.
