Join Marlene Marrow from the Home Hospice Association for a group-directed discussion of death. This event doesn’t have any particular objectives or themes aside from increasing everyone’s awareness of death and exploring our relationships with death, dying and grief. As we grapple with what life looks like today, having a safe and non-judgmental space to talk about difficult subjects is so important and can have a significant impact both on how we live and how we die.
Some in-branch programs require registration with your library card. Please log in with your library account or follow this link to apply for a card online. You can also apply for a card in person at any of our 33 locations.

Step into the relaxing world of mosaics! In this workshop you will learn the basics of creating either a functional or a completely decorative mosaic, such as a trinket box or a piece of wall art.
There will be finished samples as well as possible designs that you can use to get your creative energy flowing. You will learn how to cut small glass and ceramic tiles using tile nippers, how to use the glue to fix them to the base, and some basic techniques on using the colour and shape of tiles to achieve movement in your mosaic. After the workshop, you will leave them to dry, and then they will be grouted and polished. When you return to pick them up, you can enjoy your one-of-a-kind mosaic!

120 minutesGet up close and personal with your photographic subjects such as flowers, insects, water droplets, or detailed parts of larger subjects or scenes.
Learn how to isolate your subject from the background, and control how much of the image is in sharp focus. You can shoot up close with regular lenses and cell phones but Lynda will also include a discussion about using dedicated macro lenses.
Presented by Lynda Buske from the Ottawa PC Users' Group and the Orleans Photo Club.
