    Corn husk dolls: story and craft 

    Participants of all ages will learn the story behind one of history's oldest toys, the corn husk doll. They will learn the importance of community through these dolls. After talking about the traditional story participants will be able to make their own corn husk doll.

Discover each animal's unique adaptation, how it makes them all special and how all the animals also benefit from each other's unique characteristics to overcome and problem-solve together.     Create the solar system, planets, stars and asteroids with puffy window paint and liquid markers.  See a science video on the creation of the solar system to inspire you.

    Join us for a mini-museum experience with replica artifacts from the Canadian Museum of History!  

    With replicas of real objects that are housed at the Canadian Museum of History, can you figure out what it was used for?  

    Imagine yourself with that object from the past and draw a picture of yourself using that object.  Then we will put together a time capsule of a drawing of your favourite item to be opened in the future.  Which object today do you think would be important to uncover for future generations, 100 years from now?

    Be a Star! How bright can you shine?

    Celebrate the northern skies. Use chalk pastel techniques to re-create the shimmering colourful effects inspired by aurora borealis.  Science video will be shown to inspire you!

    Join us for a special summer edition of the RP Rebel Readers Bookclub at Rockcliffe Park.  There are limited copies of each of these books, so pick at least one to read and then we compare them.  They are all Newbery Medal Winners!  We will talk about the books, life for kids in the middle ages, do some activities and see a short video.

    This bookclub is for kids ages 9-12 and will be in English.  Registration is required as space is limited.

    Out of This World! Climb on board my rocket ship.

    Can you design a space craft carrying an astronaut (or an alien!) that can safely land on Mars?  Test your engineering skills and learn all about the challenges of landing safely on Earth and other planets

    We will look at video of the engineering challenges as faced by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory Teams, to help guide us to design solutions.

Rob will highlight some of his work, but more importantly give a quick tutorial on some of the basics of drawing and creating fun-loving characters.
