Storytime- Each week will feature a different topic to learn about and have fun with! We will explore these topics through stories, songs, games, music, activities and in other fun ways. We end the gathering with a good-bye song, stickers and bubbles! But the fun doesn't stop there- after Storytime we have our Stay and Play- children and their grown ups can stay and enjoy the selection of toys we provide while engaging together.

90 minutesJoin Anne Breau, President of Ikebana International Ottawa Centennial Chapter, who will take us through the origins and worldwide practices of Ikebana - the Japanese art of flower arrangement. We will discover the differences between Ikebana and western floral arrangement and what makes it such a compelling art form. The presentation will be followed a hands-on workshop. Materials will be provided.
Adult, English event. Space is limited, registration required.
About Anne
Anne is an artist, teacher, founder and organizer in all things Ikebana.
In 1977, she studied Ikebana under Sensei Mieko Watanabe, at the Art of Ikebana at Sogetsu School Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan. As a member of the Sogetsu Teachers Association, Tokyo, Japan, she holds the Teacher diploma 1st grade, Riji – the highest teacher’s rank of Sogetsu Ikebana.
In 1992, she joined Canadian Museum of Nature and for 18 years headed the Canadian Centre for Biodiversity, Museum’s Research division. She is a Founding member of the Sogetsu Ottawa Branch (1996) and currently Branch Senior Advisor and is the current President of Ikebana International Ottawa Centennial Chapter No. 120
She is the recipient of the Overseas Akane Teshigahara Award from Sogetsu Headmaster for her substantial contribution to Sogetsu-Ikebana (2017). Her work has been shown not only at multiple Ikebana exhibitions in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, Honolulu and Tokyo, but was selected as an entry in the book “Masterclass Ikebana”. The publication contains a unique collection of 250 arrangements made by 138 Ikebana artists from around the world. Anne has been giving Ikebana workshops at Rockcliffe Community Centre for the past 20 years.
