    Enjoy singing your favourite soft pop songs from the 50’s-80’s, Celtic and other folk music! All ages and levels of experience welcome. 

    3rd Monday of the month@ 1:30-3:00.

    On the second and fourth Mondays of each month, this event provides an opportunity for local authors and others who enjoy good writing to discuss writing of all types (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, dramatic scripts, graphic novels, etc.) Members will have the opportunity to share their writing and exchange useful feedback. Possible discussion may also include ideas related to publishing written work.

    •  preparing for the IELTS Reading and Writing Assessment, 
    • preparing a CV and Cover Letter for job prospects or interviews, 
    • help with English based course assignments,

    ... then these help sessions are designed for you!  

    >  Coaching Guide materials for IELTS will be available for participants interested in prepared for the English language assessment. 

    >  Others wishing different reading or writing help should bring along some early preparation work — e.g., Ideas for CV and Cover Letter; work assignment instructions; a book or something at the level of English you feel able to read.

    Every Monday evening we put the spotlight on a director's work, giving us a chance to explore their oeuvre, revisit movies we've played on Tuesdays, and just....watch some good movies. This month's pick is Akira Kurosawa.

    Join us for a free screening of High and Low In as part of our Monday Director Spotlight Series. The film was released in 1963. The screening will take place in our auditorium, starts at 6:00PM and is free to attend.

    Note: The film is intended for a mature audience. 143 minutes. In Japanese with English subtitles.

    Join us monthly at the Beaverbrook Branch for an evening of crafting. Bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, felting and sewing projects and work on them in the company of fellow crafters. Share tips and techniques and show of your projects if you like!  All are welcome!

  • Parenting in Ottawa

    Speak, in person, with a Public Health Nurse to get support around infant feeding and parenting. No appointment is necessary, simply drop in during these hours. Learn ways to help your child eat healthy and be active Make sure your child is on track with their growth and development. In partnership with Ottawa Public Health.

    Want to learn more about your family history or getting stuck working on your family tree?  

    Drop-in to work on your family tree, share research strategies, and discover what resources are available for your research. Sessions are held every other Tuesday at 2:00pm in the Genealogy area. 

    Specialists from the Ontario Genealogical Society Ottawa Branch and the Ottawa Public Library will answer questions and help you get the most from library resources.  

    Bring your laptop, tablet, or borrow a Chromebook from the library.
