This is a book club, conversation space and community for parents or caregivers of little people who are looking for shared connection on the struggles and joys of parenting. Sleepless nights, big emotions, stepping on a toy car that feels like a shard of glass and surprise jam on your best work shirt, parenting is not always the social media perfect picnic it is cracked up to be. At the same time you love them to bits and are trying to merge the life before them with your current reality while also keeping all the balls in the air and doing your best to raise kind and thoughtful humans amidst a crazy and changing world.

Explore concepts of parenting, identity and the ever present “mom or dad guilt”.

If you don’t have time to read the book, still come! Chill vibes and welcoming space.

After hearing a man confess his love for his dearly departed wife on a call-in radio show, a woman falls deeply, inexplicably in love with him. Deciding he is her destiny, she treks across country on a wildly romantic impulse to meet him.

This movie’s magic is created by its stars, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, and, of course, master of romantic comedy – director Nora Ephron. Come to our library to watch this fascinating story about love and destiny.

An accomplished artist, a lifelong performer and a person with Down syndrome, Niall McNeil has built a unique family tree of blood and chosen relations made up of his closest friends and collaborators. In Lay Down Your Heart, Niall introduces his “family members,” his multiple “children” (some twice his age!), his renowned “ex-wife” and director of the film Marie Clements, and more. Bonded together by shared creative passion and their relationships with Niall, his family includes some of Canada’s most outstanding theatrical and artistic talent. By exploring his unconventional family histories—sometimes factual, sometimes infused with fantasy, but always deeply felt—Niall’s limitless imagination drives him toward the heart of human connection.
