Arab Women Say What?! embodies the essence of living between two worlds: speaking and dreaming in different languages and lands.

Nermeen, a young and bold Egyptian Canadian, invites us to join her circle of friends, a group of eight outspoken, daring Arab women who found each other through their shared love of laughter, food and life. The women examine feminism in Arab society, tackling challenging and often taboo sociopolitical issues. Their conversations offer a glimpse into their personalities, providing a complex understanding of what it means to “not be from here.”

  • Typography - the art and science of written communications

    Thursday Mar 07, 2024 at 6:00pm
    120 minutes

Typography—the art and technique of arranging type—has been around for over five hundred years and is constantly evolving. Good typography makes it easy to read and can be eye-catching. Bad typography can be distracting and hard to read.

Chris Taylor, President of the Ottawa PC Users' Group will outline the somewhat arcane terminology used. He will discuss some of the historical significances of type. Then he will delve into the subjective nature of choosing typefaces: what makes a typeface more or less readable, how and when to combine multiple typefaces, what emotions are evoked in readers, and how to avoid common faux pas.

Sorry this event and its waiting list are full

Do you love to write? Is writing the air you breathe, or is there ink in your veins?

The Stittsville Creative Writing Group is a collection of people who love to write.

We meet weekly to read from text we have written on our own time during the previous week, and engage in other writing activities.

This is not a class on writing, or a workshop for manuscripts. Instead, we are people who love to write and share our works.

There are those who mostly listen rather than write, those who write prolifically but only share with the group, and a broad spectrum in between.

If your interest is in the love of writing, this group may be for you.
