    Curious about Dungeons and Dragons? Give it a try with this one-session-long adventure for beginners! 

    D&D is a popular fantasy role-playing game in which your characters explore, solve puzzles, and fight or outwit monsters. Learn the basic rules of this popular game as you undertake a mission with fellow players!  

    This adventure uses pre-generated characters, so you must register at least 5 days ahead of time to bid of your preference of character and get your info sheet before game-day. Late registrants will be assigned a random character. 

    Ages 12-17

    Join Educator, Writer, Artist, Ariel Clarke for a 4-week session of virtual poetry workshops. For ages 13-18.

    With a focus on Maya Angelou and Amanda Gorman, you will be able to examine and explore Black Poets and their work to make powerful statements. You will learn multiple poetic forms to use and express your own voice as well as learn to perform spoken word. Themes include: Using your voice, the power of voice and expression, Self-identity. 

    Materials you will need: Notebook, pencil/pen, markers (optional) 

    Ariel Clarke is a Drama and Education Alumni from the University of Windsor. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in Teaching at OISE-University of Toronto. She has done various community work with marginalized/racialized youth, as well as has taught across multiple Elementary and Secondary schools in Ontario. Ariel has also done specific work in social justice education targeting systemic racism, which has allowed her to implement anti-racist and anti-colonial perspectives as part of lesson design and planning in the classroom and community.

    Writing group for teens 13-17, facilitated by the Stittsville Creative Writing Group. A member of the SCWG will help teens express their ideas in writing through a variety of lessons and formats. Encouraging the next generation of writers will strengthen literacy of the future.                                                                Participants are asked to come prepared to write, with a device or pen and paper.

    Everyone has a story. Some of us have 1001 stories! Marie Victoria Robertson and Brad Denys will introduce you to the art of storytelling. How do you find a story to tell? Shape the story? Present the story in a way that others want to listen?

    Dr. Amadou Ba is a historian, political scientist, researcher and writer with a PhD in History, a Master’s in Political Science and a Bachelor’s in Education. Currently, Amadou Ba teaches in the School of Education and the Department of Political Science at Laurentian University  and teaches African History at Nipissing University. He will talk about some of the history and contributions of the Black community in Canada.

    Hail Adventurers! Join us for a 4-session D&D adventure for teens.  Players of all experience levels are welcome.  The first week we will make characters and the following 3 weeks we will adventure. For ages 13-17.

    Passez votre après-midi à jouer aux jeux vidéo, aux jeux de société, aux échecs, aux jeux de cartes, à lire, à bricoler, à visionner des films ou à passer du temps avec d’autres ados tout en apprenant le français!  Inscription requise.  Vous pouvez vous inscrire pour une, deux ou toutes les journées. Pour les 13 à 18 ans.

    15 mars: Art du fil sur CD

    24 mai: aimants décoratifs fait maison

    Spend the afternoon playing video games, board games, chess, card games, reading, doing crafts, watching movies or hanging out with other teens while learning French! Registration required.  You can register for one, two or all of the days. Ages 13-18.

    Historien, politologue, chercheur et écrivain, Dr Amadou Ba est titulaire d'un Doctorat en Histoire, d'une Maîtrise en Science Politique et d'un Baccalauréat en Enseignement. Il discutera des faits historiques relatant les contributions de la communauté noire au Canada.
